a kiss on the wind
is never still
yasamin's soft scent lasts a second
moves three steps in front of you,
you move forward,
long for her to be nearer,
she dances behind you
teasing

catch me

if you can

you can't
hold her or hoard her
for she is freedom
a fragile wind
and you're lucky to receive
her brief affection
on the sorry sidewalk
staring
at ancient blackened gum spots
smothered
by a built up depressive plaque
you never chose
this kkkulture

yasamin dances forward

it's impermanent,

moves back

you are wind
forming canyons

some collect ashes
this month alone
three small homes exploded
on this hollywood street
became
billowing grey plumes

allah sends a cloud
to clear the sky's lungs
of sitting smoke,
and tells us to build
news cities,
cities with no walls,
cities made of dancers & dew
and transient gifts that die
and return in the spring
cities of yasamin
